Sealant
Sealant closes a gap, joint or seam against water, dust, gas, oil and vibration, and it stays in place while the assembly moves. A sealant is chosen for movement capability and adhesion rather than for load carrying, so it works where a rigid adhesive would crack under flexing.
Matching the seal to the joint
Selection depends on the substrates, the gap size, the service temperature and the fluid being excluded. Silicone sealants stay flexible across a wide temperature range and resist weathering, which suits enclosures and outdoor joints. Epoxy and polyurethane systems add strength where the seal also carries load. UV-curing products give fast cure on accessible, light-transparent joints, and temporary shielding grades protect surfaces during coating or plating and then peel away. Surface cleaning, primer choice, cure time and expected joint movement decide whether the seal survives thermal cycling and repeated flexing.
Typical work includes electronics housings, automotive components, pipe and thread joints, glass and metal assemblies, and industrial equipment. JOME produces sealant in silicone, epoxy, polyurethane and UV-curing chemistries, including two-component high thermal conductivity filling sealant (8.0 W/mK) and 2K High-Temperature Resistant Epoxy Structural Adhesive. Available grades are listed on the sealant category page.
