MMA structural bonding adhesive is a two-part methyl methacrylate system that cures at room temperature and tolerates oily, slightly contaminated or mildly acidic surfaces better than epoxy. It bonds plastics such as ABS, PVC, acrylic and polycarbonate, plus metals and composites, with high peel and impact resistance. The cure begins when the two components meet, so the working time is fixed by the formulation rather than by the operator.
Specification choices centre on open time, gap fill and the substrates in the joint. Short open-time grades suit fast assembly lines; longer grades allow larger parts to be positioned. Because the reaction is exothermic, thick sections and large bond areas generate heat, and the mixed amount should match the joint. MMA adhesives have a noticeable odour, so ventilation and dispensing control belong in the process plan, along with a check that the chosen grade will not stress-craze a sensitive plastic.
Typical applications
Typical work includes bonding metal brackets to composite panels, joining plastic housings, bonding signage and trim, and repairing parts where heat curing is impossible. 2-part Acrylic Structural Bonding Adhesive (MMA) is a JOME product in this category, and JOME supplies MMA structural bonding adhesive for room-temperature structural assembly.
Bulk MMA Structural Bonding Adhesive orders are welcome; JOME handles factory-direct supply with export documentation.
