Pre-coated threadlocker adhesive

A pre-coated threadlocker adhesive is applied to a fastener at the factory and dried, leaving a dry, non-tacky film of micro-encapsulated resin on the threads. When the bolt is tightened, the capsules rupture and the resin cures in the absence of air, locking the joint without any liquid dispensing step on the assembly line.

The dry film keeps the fastener clean to handle, allows pre-assembled parts to be stored and shipped, and gives a repeatable torque-tension relationship on the first and only use. Because the chemistry is anaerobic, it works on plated steel, stainless and most alloy threads, and it needs a metal surface and a closed gap to cure.

Choosing a pre-applied locking agent

Selection depends on thread size, the strength the joint needs, the service temperature and whether the part will be taken apart with hand tools.
