Dual cure UV hybrid adhesives combine a UV light cure with a secondary moisture or heat cure, so the adhesive sets even where light cannot reach. The UV exposure fixes the bondline in seconds and locks parts in position; the secondary mechanism then cures the shadowed areas under fillers, opaque substrates or deep joints. This two-stage behaviour is why the chemistry is chosen for assemblies that mix transparent and opaque materials, or where the dispensing geometry blocks the light path.
Selection starts with the secondary cure type and the substrates involved. Moisture-cure grades suit open assemblies with ambient humidity; heat-cure grades suit parts that can pass through an oven. Viscosity, gap fill and surface energy then decide whether the adhesive wets the joint properly and whether surface preparation is needed. Joint design should keep the bondline thin and accessible to the lamp, because cure depth under UV depends on irradiance and exposure time.
Typical applications
These adhesives are used for potting and sealing connectors, sensors and small electronic housings, bonding glass or polycarbonate to metal frames, and forming gaskets where a rubber ring would otherwise be fitted. UV silicone dual-curing high elasticity sealant can replace rubber sealing rings in such assemblies, and JOME supplies dual cure UV hybrid adhesives for these production requirements.
JOME is an industrial Dual Cure UV Hybrid Adhesives manufacturer supplying customers in more than 30 countries.
