Optical clear UV adhesive is a UV-curing formulation that stays transparent after cure and matches the refractive behaviour of glass and many optical plastics closely enough to avoid visible haze at the interface. It cures in seconds under the right lamp, which allows fast in-line assembly and precise positioning before the light is applied. Because cure depends on light reaching the adhesive, joint design and substrate transparency determine whether the bond develops fully.
Selection focuses on cure depth, shrinkage, hardness and the optical duty of the joint. Thin bondlines cure quickly and shrink less in absolute terms; thicker sections or shadowed areas may need a dual-cure grade or a two-sided exposure path. A softer cured adhesive relieves stress on delicate optics, while a harder grade holds dimensional stability. Lamps, exposure distance and time must be matched to the photoinitiator system, and parts should be masked where stray light would cure adhesive in unwanted places.
Typical applications
Typical uses include bonding lenses, prisms and light guides, sealing display modules, potting optical sensors, and laminating transparent covers. High bonding strength Optical transparent UV adhesive is a JOME product for these assemblies, and JOME supplies optical clear UV adhesive for optical bonding and encapsulation.
