A silicone coating cures into an elastic, water-repellent film on the surface it protects. The silicon-oxygen backbone gives the cured film a wide service temperature range, good dielectric strength and resistance to moisture, ozone and UV, which is why silicone is widely used in waterproofing and conformal coating work.
Grades differ mainly in how they cure and how thick they are applied. Single-component moisture-cure types need no mixing and suit manual or selective spraying, while two-part addition-cure types cure uniformly and can be used in deeper sections. Elasticity matters where the substrate moves with temperature, and the primer is chosen for the metal, PCB or plastic surface involved.
Silicone in coating and sealing work
Engineers use these materials for PCB conformal coating, fabric and membrane coating, gaskets and seals, and outdoor hardware that sees rain or washdown. JOME supplies a single-component solvent-free elastic silicone rubber conformal coating, and the silicone waterproof coating range covers surface protection work. Product data should be checked against the substrate, the film thickness required and the curing conditions on the line.
JOME supplies Silicone to wholesalers and distributors with consistent lot quality and application support.
