PU sealants are polyurethane-based elastic materials that cure into a rubber-like joint, combining movement accommodation with genuine adhesion. Unlike a purely elastic silicone, a polyurethane sealant can be formulated to carry structural load, which makes it effective at joints that must both move and hold.
The chemistry is usually one-part moisture-curing or two-part. One-part products are simpler to use on site, but cure speed depends on ambient humidity and temperature. Two-part products cure through mixing, so they set predictably even in dry or cold conditions and can reach higher strength. Hardness, elongation and modulus are the properties to compare, together with the movement class the joint demands.
Typical applications
PU sealants are used on vehicle and trailer bodies, container and panel seams, window and facade joints, concrete-to-metal interfaces, and machinery housings exposed to vibration. Surface preparation, the use of a primer on difficult substrates, and joint geometry all matter more than the brand selected.
JOME supplies a two-component 2K polyurethane structural adhesive for combined bonding and sealing duties, and further grades are grouped in our PU Sealants category.
JOME supplies PU Sealants to wholesalers and distributors with consistent lot quality and application support.
