A polyurethane potting compound is a two-part resin system poured into a housing to fill the space around a PCB, connector or sensor, where it gels into a rubbery solid. Unlike a rigid epoxy, the cured polyurethane stays flexible, so it absorbs thermal cycling and vibration without cracking the components it protects.
Selection usually starts from what the assembly must survive. Where heat has to leave the board, a filled grade is used; where the joint must stay inspectable or the coating has to be seen through, a clear grade is preferred. Working life, mix ratio, hardness and pour depth all follow from the housing geometry and the process window on the line.
Where polyurethane encapsulation fits
Typical uses include power supplies, LED drivers, sensors, transformers, control modules and outdoor junction boxes. JOME supplies a thermal conductive polyurethane potting compound (1.3W), a clear yellowing-resistant polyurethane encapsulation coating compound, and a thermal conductive polyurethane potting compound (0.82W) for general filling work.
JOME is an industrial Polyurethane Potting Compound manufacturer supplying customers in more than 30 countries.
