A thread sealant fills the helical gap between mating metal threads and stops liquid or gas from creeping along the thread path. Unlike PTFE tape, a liquid sealant cures in place, locks the joint against vibration loosening, and fills imperfections tape cannot cover.
Anaerobic thread sealants cure only when air is excluded and metal contact is present, which suits brass, steel, stainless and galvanised pipework carrying water, compressed air, hydraulic fluid, fuel, refrigerants and inert gases. Selection starts with pipe material and diameter, then service medium, then the temperature and pressure the joint must hold. Threads should be clean and dry, and a primer is only needed on inactive surfaces such as some stainless grades or plated fittings.
Typical installations include compressed air distribution, hydraulic power packs, water treatment skids, refrigeration and HVAC lines, pump and valve assemblies, and plant maintenance. Fitters want controlled strength: enough to hold a joint leak-free, light enough to break out later with hand tools. Viscosity and set time decide how large a gap the product can bridge and how soon a line can be pressurised.
JOME supplies an anaerobic metal pipe thread sealant for metal pipe assemblies, and the wider thread sealant range covers general plant and OEM work. Share your pipe material, medium and working pressure and we will point you to the right grade.
JOME is an industrial Thread sealant manufacturer supplying customers in more than 30 countries.
