Acrylic UV Adhesive

Acrylic UV adhesive cures in seconds under ultraviolet light and bonds glass, many plastics and metals without the long fixture times of two-part systems. The acrylic backbone gives good adhesion to difficult plastics and moderate flexibility in the cured film.

Selection points

Because cure depends on light reaching the resin, the joint design determines success. At least one substrate should pass UV energy, or the bond must be thin enough for light to penetrate. Where shadowed areas exist, a dual-cure grade that also reacts with moisture or heat completes the cure. Viscosity ranges from water-thin for wicking into tight fits to thick gels that stay on vertical surfaces. Cured hardness, elongation and adhesion to the specific plastic decide whether the joint survives thermal cycling, and surface cleaning remains important because mould release agents and oils block adhesion.
